Why Anaheim Hills Patients Choose MySmile for Crowns
Multiple material options, digital scanning, and a process that is done in about a week.
Three Crown Material Options
Dr. Bhatia offers zirconia, porcelain, and porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. She will recommend the best material for your specific tooth based on its location, how much biting force it takes, and your cosmetic goals.
Digital Scanning, No Goopy Impressions
We use digital scanning to capture the shape of your tooth. No messy impression material. The scan is fast, comfortable, and produces a more accurate crown fit than traditional molds.
Done in Two Quick Visits
Your first visit takes 45 minutes to an hour for preparation, temporary crown, and scanning. The second visit about 5 to 7 days later takes just 15 minutes to fit and cement the permanent crown.
Insurance Friendly
Most dental insurance plans cover crowns. Coverage varies from 20% to 100% depending on your plan. We verify your benefits before starting so you know exactly what your out-of-pocket cost will be.
Evening Appointments Available
Open until 7 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Both crown visits can be scheduled in the evening so you do not have to miss work.
Experienced with Complex Cases
Whether you need a single crown on a back molar, a front tooth crown that needs to match your other teeth perfectly, or multiple crowns as part of a larger treatment plan, Dr. Bhatia has the experience to deliver a result that fits right and looks natural.
Crown Materials and Options
Three material choices to match your needs, your tooth, and your budget.
Zirconia Crowns
Extremely strong and natural-looking. Zirconia is ideal for back teeth that take heavy biting force, but also looks great on front teeth. One of the most durable crown materials available.

The most natural appearance of any crown material. Porcelain mimics the translucency and color of real teeth. Often the top choice for front teeth where appearance matters most.
Learn morePorcelain-Fused-to-Metal Crowns
A metal core for strength with a porcelain exterior for appearance. A reliable, time-tested option that works well for both front and back teeth.
Learn moreFlexible Financing
Insurance often covers 20% to 100% of crown costs depending on your plan. For any remaining balance, we offer monthly payments through Cherry, CareCredit, Sunbit, and LendingClub.

What to Expect When Getting a Crown
The process starts at your first visit, which takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Dr. Bhatia prepares the tooth by reshaping it to make room for the crown. She then places a temporary crown to protect the tooth and takes a digital scan. The scan is sent to a dental lab where your permanent crown is custom-fabricated.
About 5 to 7 days later, you come back for your second visit. This one is quick, about 15 minutes. Dr. Bhatia checks the fit, makes sure the color matches your other teeth, confirms your bite feels right, and cements the crown permanently. You walk out with a finished result.
If you have dental anxiety, both visits can be done with nitrous oxide or oral sedation. The preparation visit is the longer one, but most patients report it is straightforward and comfortable. Learn more about our sedation options for anxious patients.

How much does a dental crown cost in Anaheim Hills?
Dental crowns typically range from $800 to $3,000 per tooth depending on the material. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are generally on the lower end, while all-porcelain and zirconia crowns tend to be higher. These are typical industry ranges and your actual cost depends on your specific case and insurance. Most dental insurance plans cover 20% to 100% of the cost. Contact our office at (714) 998-4151 for an exact estimate based on your situation.
What types of crowns do you offer?
We offer three types: zirconia (the strongest, great for back teeth and also looks natural), porcelain (the most natural appearance, ideal for front teeth), and porcelain-fused-to-metal (metal core for strength with a porcelain exterior). Dr. Bhatia will recommend the best option based on which tooth needs the crown and your priorities.
How many visits does a crown take?
Two visits. The first visit takes 45 minutes to an hour. Dr. Bhatia prepares the tooth, places a temporary crown, and takes a digital scan. The permanent crown is fabricated by the lab in about 5 to 7 days. The second visit takes about 15 minutes to check the fit and cement the crown permanently.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is numbed with local anesthesia before any work begins, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some patients experience mild sensitivity for a few days after the first visit while wearing the temporary crown. If you have dental anxiety, we also offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation to keep you comfortable.
How long does a dental crown last?
A well-made dental crown typically lasts 10 to 15 years, and many last significantly longer with good care. Zirconia crowns tend to be the most durable. Avoiding habits like grinding your teeth, chewing ice, or using your teeth to open packages will help your crown last longer. If you grind your teeth at night, Dr. Bhatia may recommend a night guard to protect the crown.
When is a crown not recommended?
A crown may need to be delayed if a gum procedure was recently done on the same tooth. The gums need time to heal so Dr. Bhatia can see the exact margin level for the crown. Excessive bleeding or puffiness around the gums can also mean waiting for the tissue to settle before taking impressions. In these cases, a temporary crown is placed while the area heals.
Does insurance cover dental crowns?
Most dental insurance plans cover crowns, though the percentage varies widely. Some plans cover 50% after your deductible, while others cover 80% or even 100%. Coverage often depends on whether the crown is considered medically necessary. We check your insurance benefits before your appointment so there are no surprises.
What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?
A crown covers the entire tooth and is used when the tooth is damaged, decayed, or weakened. A veneer covers only the front surface and is primarily cosmetic. Crowns are structural, meaning they restore strength to a compromised tooth. If your tooth is healthy but you want to change its appearance, a veneer may be a better option. Dr. Bhatia can help you decide which is right for your situation.
